Barron’s, one of the premier investment publications, named Abbott Chairman and CEO Miles White to its annual list of 30 World’s Best CEOs. This marks Mr. White’s seventh consecutive year on the “World’s Best CEOs” list, an accomplishment shared by only six other CEOs.
According to Barron's, Mr. White's "corporate engineering has helped investors realize great value. The longest-tenured among major health-care company CEOs, White, 60, transformed Abbott through a series of acquisitions, divestitures, and spinoffs, creating one of the industry's most durable growth stories."
When Mr. White assumed his leadership role in 1999, Abbott's market value was $76 billion. Today, the company's three spinoffs AbbVie, Hospira and Abbott have a combined market cap of $182 billion according to Barron's.
The other CEOs who have maintained their standing on Barron's list for the past seven years include: Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway, Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase, BlackRock's Laurence Fink, Ma Huateng of Tencent, Michael O'Leary of Ryanair Holdings and FedEx's Fred Smith.
